Fall Adult Student Orientation is designed for adults students new to EMU who are beginning classes in September 2008.

WHAT is Adult Student Orientation and WHY should I attend?

As you prepare to begin your first semester, we would like to make your transition smooth and invite you to an experience, which will help ensure your academic success. EMU offers a free orientation program, designed especially for adult students who are new to the college experience. FUSION: New Student Adult Orientation will provide you with the opportunity to meet fellow adult students, learn about campus resources, and take care of business before classes begin. Following the formal Orientation session which highlights academic resources, campus services, navigating your way around campus, technology, time management, and steps to getting involved, we welcome you to take a tour of campus and/or advantage of Student Center Eaglepalooza a program that brings various campus resources and entertainment all to one place.

WHO is eligible for Adult Student Orientation?

  • Students who have been admitted by Admissions as FTIAC (first-time in any college) that are 21 and older are who Adult Orientation is designed for.
  • We also invite transfer students, post-baccalaureate students or other who feel they need a quick refresher on getting back into college life.

WHEN is Adult Student Orientation & WHAT is on the Schedule?

  • Sunday, August 31, 2008, EMU Student Center Room 330
  • 3-3:30 p.m. Adult Orientation, Check-in, EMU Student Center, Room 330
  • 3:30 -5 p.m. Adult Orientation Session, EMU Student Center, Room 330
    A session designed especially for adult students to learn about opportunities, programs and resources available at EMU. We’ll discuss academic resources, tips on parking, time management, and navigating myEmich and technology at EMU. There will be time to ask questions.
  • 4:45-5:30 p.m. Campus tour (optional)
    Get acquainted with campus and classroom locations before school begins.
  • 5-8 p.m. Student Center Eaglepalooza (optional)
    Utilize a plethora of different offices in one convenient location to take care of all of your unfinished EMU business like printing class schedules, buying your textbooks, picking up your parking decals, getting your student ID, or talking to Financial Aid. This family-friendly event also includes dinner and entertainment. Representatives from a variety of campus offices will be on hand to answer questions and assist you.
